Greetings,
Have you ever gotten into the situation with your aging parent, that you were taking care of long distance, where you “lost them”? They didn’t answer phones, cell phones, emails or the like.
What did you do, short of calling the police?
I am trying give another person some ideas for managing his father more effectively.
You make a good point that “long distance” care giving is applicable to those situations when you are not there, whether you are thirty minutes or 3000 miles.
There are things that can be done with a home that will prevent, most wanders, from escaping. However, someone needs to be living inside the house with them. High door locks, security buzzers, etc.
Interesting idea about GPS. Would it have to be a sub-dermal implant so that you could assure that it would be always present?
What do others think about the GPS idea?
David
I was in this situation with my father, who had alzheimer’s. although he lived only 30 minutes away? I would like to know if you have suggestions to solve this; since it’s scary when it occurs.
I was able to call neighbors, but only found him (after he bolted in his shorts) when the police picked him up and brought him to the nearest hospital, which they are required to do.
Do you believe GPS, or RFID technologies might be used?
