Many elderly end up living very minimalist retirements because they may have withdrawn 401k early or other reasons. What can an elderly person do to live a peaceful retirement and have enough for basic necessities?

We are in a bit of a debt society and often the elders debt is legally passed down to the deceased's relatives. Elderly people should recieve help from government programs for basic necessity like food and shelter.

I think government should reestablished its policies about elder care programs by providing them basic necessities for a fruitful life. I think other then such programs, working from home is also a great option for them to earn extra income and cut commuting costs.
